I am not too sure where all the "warnings" about witches came from by the other reviews. This is certainly a friendly and "spirited" book done in a very fun way. It definitely has the Art Spiegelman "touch" to it. I really can appreciate him going from topics as serious as the holocaust and the attack on the two towers at 9/11 to having a bit of fun with being a dog. I would highly recommend to any who collect children's books or is looking for a cool book for a kiddo!

This is an adorable book - highly recommended!
This book passed the hardest test of all. My grandson squealed with delight when he opened his gift and he spent an entire evening, first listening to me read it to him, and then trying to read it to himself. It is books such as this that tempt children into a wonderful, lifetime habit of reading.

My grandson and I first checked this book out of the public library and shared it with his class at Head Start. Several times thereafter we had to return to the library to get it again. Because of the physical properties of the book, the young children are enchanted and they pay very close attention to the story.

It does have a witch and a wizard in the storyline, but it also has humor.
I read this to my 2 year old and 6 year old - both love the story and frequently request it in bedtime story rotations
This is a darling little book. I bought it as a birthday gift for my six year old nephew who wants a puppy but can't have one where he lives. He named it Eddie. (The book,.... I mean DOG). It was a big hit with a kid who's usually less than thrilled with the books his Auntie ALWAYS buys him. It's the only book I've ever seen with a leash. I'd like my own copy.
I love this book! Love the idea behind it! So clever and different! My kids loved it so I bought it for my nieces too. My 2 year old took it for a walk with the included leash.
