Million Dollar DoubleAfter her company was sold, it closed its nonprofit arm, leaving social worker Andrea unemployed. When she reported to The Lighthouse, an organization specializing in helping the victims of human trafficking, Andrea is shocked. The head of The Lighthouse, Sarah, looks exactly like Andrea.
The shocks to Andrea's system are just beginning. Sarah has an outlandish proposition for Andrea. If Andrea marries Sarah's fiancé, the handsome and rich Blake, Andrea will earn one million dollars.
Sarah thinks Andrea can fool Blake and pull off the deception.
Sarah is wrong.
Alane Hudson's Body Double is a wonderfully entertaining romance. Her characters are fully developed and engaging. Andrea is a dedicated person who wants to make a difference helping people, with scars from a cruel jilting two years ago. I loved Sarah, who is from Atlanta. Her homespun humor will have the reader chucking. For example, Sarah knew the plan "sounded nuttier than a squirrel’s Thanksgiving pie." And the elderly Isabelle, who instructed Blake to save his strength for his honeymoon.

Body Double edition by Alane Hudson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I loved this book. While there was a lot of discussion about $1m, $5m, $10m, Andrea was not a "gold digger." After the completion of her "job" she didn't think she was going to be paid by Sarah, but nonetheless, she was content that she had a wonderful two weeks on the vacation/honeymoon. Then she was more upset about Blake paying her because she felt like he didn't care anything about her and she was just an employee. Andrea was not a gold digger and that was evident by her compassion she had for Sarah's father and the honesty, openness and genuine affection she had with Blake. It was clear that desired Blake more than the money she was to be paid for impersonating Sarah.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was the ending - I wanted to keep reading. If you want to read explicit sexual content, then this book isn't for you. This book is more about feelings and relationships than sex.
I enjoyed the book. It was a little farfetched but it is fiction so that was easy to get around. I liked Blake but to be as rich as he was he sure didn't seem to work much. Maybe he was just in a slack time. Since the other reviews explain what the story is all about, I won't go into that.
Andrea was at times a little slow to me. I could understand her being upset over being left at the altar and he never sees her again but good grief, the guy was a limo driver with more problems that she had so how much did she really lose. Not enough to still be grieving over him 2 years later. Plus, he wasn't happy with her and was continually trying to change her and again, he was a limo driver!!! Nothing against limo drivers but that doesn't really seem like a very ambitious person to me.
Anyway, she said or thought some other things that I thought were just creepy...for instance her comment about the butler sniffing her panties. Where in heck did that come from? Then being paid a million dollars for her little job and she continues to talk like it is nothing. This is a woman who was unemployed at the time. Then she gets $5 million dollars and she figures she will run by Wal Mart and buy some new clothes. Really? And she makes the comment that she can PROBABLY live on that for the rest of her life. Did she really think she could make more than that at the $40,000 she was going to be paid to be a social worker? That just seemed sort of stupid to me. I would have thought she would be excited beyond words that she was getting that kind of money. Social workers are paid so little they can barely exist on what they do get. Too suddenly be a millionaire sure should have generated a little more excitement than she was showing. Last, after 2 years she still keeps this jerk's number and ring tone in her phone. After all he did, I would have thought she would have deleted his number. If she never wanted to talk to him or hear from him, why didn't she delete him? I didn't get that.
Overall it was good read and certainly entertaining.
This is a wonderful book and I adored every page! Sat up half the night reading because I simply could not put it down.
"For a million bucks, would you marry a complete stranger?"
Two years ago Andrea Lindholm was left at the alter, her fiance never making it to the church for their wedding and no word from him since. Her outlook on marriage and trust has been forever altered. She lost her job and financial distress is her middle name, but she has been offered one million dollars for acting as Proxy, for a bride-to-be named Sarah, her exact double. Marriage to the handsome and rich Blake Thomas is not what Sarah really wants but she needs him for other reasons. Andrea is required to play the part of his fiancee, stand in at the wedding ceremony and pretend she is Sarah. A two-week honeymoon in Hawaii with the gorgeous Blake is part of the deal and she has carte blanche to do with him as she pleases. Whoa baby, what an offer and to be paid for it as well!
Blake Thomas is a hunky multimillionaire health club owner and he needs to marry Sarah to help his mother keep his deceased father's business intact as she makes a business deal with Sarah's father, the devil himself. Blake agrees to do this for his mother and will do what it takes to try and make his marriage work.
When Blake is informed of the by Proxy marriage arrangement and meets his new stand-in intended, sparks ignite as they are drawn to each other like magnets. After the honeymoon, it gets pretty dicey. When Sarah returns from a rescue mission and comes home to claim her husband, what will happen to Andrea? Is it possible for Andrea to come out of this fake marriage with her heart intact? What about Blake's heart?
I highly recommend this book. Alane...what fantastic writing!
